Armed With A Dull Hook…..

Introducing:  Cleo the Cat! She’s a little book worm and just loves hanging out on the shelves looking for new characters to be friends with.

Directions are as follows.  I just whipped this out (since i generally just crochet and make things up as I go) so if you find any problems, please let me know and I will fix!

CLEO THE CAT

 

**Work all rows in rounds; use a stitch marker to designate beginning of rows.

DO NOT JOIN ROUNDS

 

HEAD:

Using variegated yarn, or any worsted weight of your choice, Chain 4, slip stitch into first chain, sc 6 into middle of ring

Row 1: 2sc in each sc around [12]

Row 2: *sc 1, 2sc in next sc*; repeat * to * around [18]

Row 3: *sc 2, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [24]

Row 4: *sc 3, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [30]

Row 5: *sc 4. 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [36]

Row 6: *sc 5, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [42]

Row 7: *sc 6, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [48]

Row 8-11: sc in each stitch around [48]

Row 12: *sc 6, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [42]

Row 13: *sc 5, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [36]

Row 14: *sc 4, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [30]

Row 15: *sc 3, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [24]

At this point you should place your eyes in the desired spot and start stuffing.

Row 16: *sc 2, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [18]

Finish stuffing (you want to really over stuff). Fasten off and leave long tail for attaching to body.

 

EARS (make 2):

Using same yarn as head, chain 4, slip stitch into first chain, sc 6 into middle of ring.

Row 1: 2sc in each sc around [12]

Row 2: *sc 1, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [18]

Row 3-4: sc in each stitch [18]

Stuff lightly, fasten off and leave long tail for sewing to head.  *You can attach these to the head now.

 

BODY:

Using same yarn as head and ears, chain 4, slip stitch into first chain, sc 6 into middle of ring

Row 1: 2sc in each sc around [12]

Row 2: Row 2: *sc 1, 2sc in next sc*; repeat * to * around [18]

Row 3: *sc 2, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [24]

Row 4: *sc 3, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [30]

Row 5: *sc 4. 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [36]

Row 6: *sc 5, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [42]

**Change yarn color to start T-shirt

Row 7-10: sc in each stitch around

Row 11: *sc 5, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [36]

Row 12:  sc in each stitch around

Row 13: *sc 4, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [30]

Row 14: sc in each stitch around

Row 15: *sc 3, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [24]

Row 16: sc in each stitch around

** You should begin stuffing now.

Row 17: *sc 2, decrease one (stitch two together)*, repeat * to * around [18]

Row 18: sc in each stitch around

Finish stuffing and fasten off.  You also want to overstuff the body.

Attach buttons down the middle if you wish.

 

ARMS (make 2):

Using same yarn as head, chain 4, slip stitch into first chain, sc 6 into middle of ring.

Row 1: 2sc in each sc around [12]

**Switch to t-shirt body color

Row 2: *sc 1, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [18]

Row 3: *sc 2, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [24]

Row 4-6: sc in each stitch around.

Stuff, fasten off and leave long tail for attaching to body.

 

LEGS (make 2):

Using same yarn as head, chain 4, slip stitch into first chain, sc 6 into middle of ring.

Row 1: 2sc in each sc around [12]

Row 2: *sc 1, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [18]

Row 3: *sc 2, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [24]

Row 4: *sc 3, 2sc in next sc*, repeat * to * around [30]

Row 5-7: sc in each stitch around.

Stuff, fasten off and leave long tail for attaching to body.

 

Attach arms and legs to your cat.  Now you have a little Cleo of your own!
